Mad Rock 2011 Conflict
Mad Rock first debuted this new shoe during the summer outdoor retailer trade show. Four months later they came out with the finished product…it was well worth the wait. Mad Rock’s latest innovation shows that they are not only affordable but that their designs are cutting edge. No, they did not send us a free pair or pay for this review. (However, if someone would like to front some free shoes we are all ears.) We purchased these shoes and tested them out thoroughly to bring you these observations:
* A re-imagined upper (top of the shoe) is covered in a flexible, thin-rubber which allows for bomber
toe-hooks and room for the knuckles of your toes to breath as well as flex comfortably.
*A light, padded tongue works to ensure tight closures and acts to absorb sweat.
*The heel cup is more circularly contoured to give you a solid pull from the heel, and the sharp edges
that existed on previous models are gone
*The rubber is a lot stiffer than past models and though it does take some adjusting this shoe can toe
down and edge on the smallest of footholds. However, this is in the softer range of their new series.
* The pull tabs are made of a stretchy material (yes, this is needed to get a tight fit) and it is recommended that you tighten the velcro tabs from the top to bottom to ensure the tongue closes properly.
